The Battle of Cold Harbor was fought from May 31 to June 12, 1864. It was one of the last battles for Ulysses S. Grant’s campaign during the Civil War and is remembered as one of the war’s bloodiest battles. Approximately 2,600 soldiers died during this battle, with another 12,400 soldiers wounded, and 2,900 soldiers missing. Today, the grounds are owned and operated by the Richmond National Park Service and is open daily for visits. Learn more at their website.
